Mission
Hi! My name is Adam, but the runners I coach call me Coach Dude. I've been a runner, a shoe fitter, race director, footwear product manager, running store owner, and running coach for 30 years. I started managing virtual running events back in 2012 back before we had apps to manage them. My first event used an Excel Spreadsheet to track 150 runners and walkers trying to complete one mile every day outside in January during a bitter cold Massachusetts winter. I created this event for the running store I used to own called Bayside Runner (the new owner changed the name to Marathon Sports).
I moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2014. In the PNW, I've enjoyed the endless trails to run, ferry rides to new destinations, and breweries on every corner. I believe in supporting local. The events I managed for the store raised donations and brought awareness for many worthy local charities. These charities include Eastside Baby Corner, Seattle Humane, Farmer Frog, Jubilee REACH, and Renewal Food Bank.
Challenge Northwest is the new venture I launched in 2020. I set-up Challenge Northwest events so that anyone, of any ability, can participate. You just have to be willing to try! I believe that the bravest runner (or participant) is the one who thinks they are going to finish in the last place, but is brave enough to show up anyway. Be brave!
