Run for Wild the Wild 5k & 10K Trail Run
1K Kids Trail Run
June 4, 2022
Farmer Frog & Paradise Valley Conservation Area
Woodinville, WA
Enjoy an early summer run or walk through the Paradise Valley Conservation Area, where you will experience 90% single-track trails through fern-covered forests. This shady course of foot trails winds through the woods with minimal elevation gain, making it beginner-friendly for joggers and walkers but potentially fast times for competitive runners. The race will begin and end at Paradise Farm, the headquarters of Farmer Frog, a 501(c)3 non-profit with the mission to cultivate programs, school gardens, and hands-on learning to nurture communities for all living beings.
On June 4 Farmer Frog is hosting Western Wildlife Outreach, Defenders of Wildlife, and the WA Dept of Fish & Wildlife Karelian Bear Dog Program to raise awareness about working dogs, good fences and their role in helping humans coexist with wildlife such as black bears, cougars, and coyotes. Run for the Wild race profits will benefit the Karelian Bear Dog Program and Farmer Frog’s Livestock Guardian Dog teams.
The race kicks off the Bear With Me Festival. The event will have speakers, vendors, Hungarian Food in the barn, expert lead wildlife trail walks, a bear trap/release demonstration, and more. Your race registration comes with Festival admission.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING DOGS to the race or festival. There will be working dogs present on the farm as well as the normal dog traffic with recreators on the trails who we do not want to have conflict with.

FAQ
What does my registration fee pay for?
Your registration fee, along with the generous support of our sponsors, cover the cost of permitting for our venue, timing, and other hard costs. 100% of net proceeds will go to Western Wildlife Outreach. WWO works with our partners to provide science-based information to community groups about the ecology, biology, and behavior of these species and the low level of risk associated with living with them. By engaging communities in long-term wildlife and habitat stewardship activities, WWO programs foster an appreciation for the large carnivore’s niche in maintaining ecosystem health, providing critical context and links to other environmental recovery efforts happening throughout Washington and the northwestern US states into British Columbia, Canada.
Do I have to be a runner to participate?
Not at all! All ages and participation levels are welcome.
What type of Covid-19 safety precautions are being taken?
We will follow Snohomish Counties guidelines and make changes as the COVID situation is fluid. At this time, masking will be optional for all participants and spectators.
How many people are you expecting and do I have other race options?
A first-year event can be difficult to predict, especially in a year with so many variables. With this said, we are initially planning for approximately 150-200 racers from our community, with the ability to scale up, if need be.
Is there a dedicated little kid race?
Yes! We have the Kids 1K that starts and ends in the same location as the adult race and runs through a pedestrian only and safe trail for kids of any age. The course will be marked and staffed with volunteers, parents of young children are encourage to run with your children. The Lil' Pup 1K starts at 8:30 AM. We will not provide childcare for parents who choose to run the 5K/10K event.
What’s the parking situation?
Please do not use the Paradise Valley Conservation Area parking lot. Park at the Church of Maltby at 9322 Paradise Lake Rd, Snohomish, WA 98296. Shuttles will run starting at 7:30 AM between Farmer Frog and the parking area. No permit or payment is needed for parking.
What do I do with my bag or jacket during the race?
We will provide a bag drop/check station at the start finish area.
What’s Included?
Each registration prior to May 15, 2022, includes a technical wicking tee in a size of your choosing and a unique event medal. Due to the pandemic-related supply chain/manufacturing delays and issues, shirts/medals for registrations after 5/15/22 are not guaranteed for race day delivery and will likely arrive in Mid-June. These items will be available for pick up at a TBD location and time.
Are you accepting morning-of registrations?
Yes! Registration opens at 7:30 AM on Saturday, June 4.
How early can I pick up my packet and swag? Can I pick up another racer's packet for them?
We will have a early packet pick-up on June 3 at a TBD time and location. You may pick up packets for others as well. Please bring ID (for yours) and a printed/digital registration confirmation (screenshot of the confirmation email is fine) for others that are not present. As long as we can read the name, you can have the packet! Early packet pick up is a great way to avoid the day-of lines, and we strongly suggest it. This way, you can also race in your cool Run for Wildlife shirt if you want!
I'm new to this - how early should I plan to arrive?
This is entirely up to you, but we'd generally recommend ~ 60 minutes ahead of time if you are pre-registered to allow for potential lines, packet pick up (if you haven't already done so - see option to pick up early), warm up, and find your starting corral. You'll have a fresh sunrise over the lake to soak up and enjoy, which also isn't a half bad way to pass the time if you find yourself with a little extra buffer time.
Will there be water available on the course?
There will be water stops set up at the 1.5 mile mark and the finishline area (also the 1/2 way point for the 10K). Thank you in advance for using the trash cans for disposal.
Are dogs and strollers allowed?
We advise against dogs and strollers due the narrow single track trail course. PLEASE DO NOT BRING DOGS to the race or festival. There will be working dogs present on the farm as well as the normal dog traffic with recreators on the trails who we do not want to have conflict with.
Are there prizes?
There will be awards for fastest time in each age division, overall fastest male/female (1st, 2nd. 3rd place).
I own a business and would love to see my logo on the back of the Run for Wildlife shirts... How does that happen?
